As the year 2022 is drawing to an end, a lot is happening in the cement, concrete, and alternative fuels industry with much conversation about the use of alternative fuels in cement production and particularly how to decarbonize the cement and concrete industry.

In our current magazine, we continue our series on Biomass with a case study on the use of Biomass in the cement industry and how it could contribute to the reduction of C02 emissions in cement production.  Also, considering the large interest in carbon credit schemes and how they operate, this edition explains the carbon credit scheme and how the cement industry can benefit from it. We further gave an update on the use of sewage sludge as an alternative fuel from our Handbook, among other articles, company news, and global news from the global alternative fuels communities.

The first half of the year was characterized by different events ranging from an increase in the prices of food items, coal, and natural gas joint with global rising security issues, recession, and climate crisis. These events show us how important it is to understand waste as a resource wherever possible. Waste that is returned to the raw material cycle and non-recyclable waste that is further reprocessed as an alternative fuel will relieve government budgets, creates jobs, and reduces harmful greenhouse gases

The first quarter of 2020 has mainly been shaped by the outbreak of Covid-19. While this is a challenging period in every aspect of our lives, it is also a chance to stand together. Fear and panic do not serve any purpose. Our common goal remains to “flatten the curve”.

Aside from the personal consequences of the virus, it will also affect different aspects of the alternative fuels and cement industry. In edition 01/20 of the Co-Processing Magazine, we give an overview of different parts of the industry that will most likely be impacted by Covid-19. Among other reports and articles, as well as news from the global alternative fuels communities, we provide you with an overview of the European RDF market. Additionally, you will find the project description of the 3rd AFA winner 2019 inside; PSCL, introducing their Waste Fuels Information Management System for Geocycle. We furthermore set a special focus on conveying technologies with a revised excerpt from our Alternative Fuels and Raw Materials Handbook.
