Once again the Alternative Fuels Symposium has gathered more than 140 delegates from all over the world for an unparalleled exchange of expertise, innovations and experiences in the field of alternative fuels in the cement industry. The programme included a visit to a Dyckerhoff cement plant, offering insides on processing of alternative fuels, the presentation of selected case studies on succesful waste to fuel projects, regional and country reports and talks on latest developments in the industry. As a novelty, the Alternative Fuel Award was introduced to the programme in 2018. First prize-winner was Reliance Investment & Project Management, Egypt. Two honorary awards for projects selected by Dirk Lechtenberg went to Quena Cement, Mohammed Hamada Ali Ahmed and Bio Energy, Egypt. The symposium concluded with a networking event and dinner during a boat trip on the Rhine.
